Welcome to the 23rd annual Nikkei Games Bowling Invitational.
This tournament IS an officially recognized event in the Nikkei Games Organization!!!
This year's Nikkei Games runs from July 12th - August 27th, 2023! Bowling location
is - it will take place on August 19th (saturday) at Cal Bowl in Lakewood near Carson St. & Lakewood Blvd.
This event coincides with the Nikkei Games / Nisei Week events of Track & Field, Karate, Judo , Kendo , Taiko, Baseball, Softball, Volleyball, Basketball, Golf and Bowling every year. Visit http://www.nikkeigames.org for more information.
This year's tournament as usual was conducted as a scratch tournament with a field of 53 Junior bowlers, 43 adult singles, 14 in team event. Except for 2021 each year participation is increasing, remember we have a limited amount of spacing as there is only 1 squad of each event!! The kid's squad consisted of agest 2 - 18 ... ages 8 & under are using bumpers and 9 & over are bowling without bumpers. Ages 9 & under all receive a medal , while agest 10 & up bowl in divisions of about 6 or 7 and must place in the top 3 to earn a medal.
Adults singles squads are by age also, and all divisions consist of 6 or 7 bowlers with the top 3 bowlers earning the gold, silver and bronze (medals) - instead of medals though, the winners are given a nice commemorative towel embroidered in either gold , silver, or bronze. This towel is only available to the winners in the Nikkei Games bowling divisions, so they are hard to get! You can also create a singles division with friends from church, basketball, referrees whatever, just let me know you would like to form your own division and we can work together to get it going!
Adult team event squad is by men, women, seniors or if you have any other organizational challenges, last year we had OCO Optomist teams battling it out amongst themselves for the towels. This year the Yamaguchi Ohana formed a family ndivision to see who can beat who ... you may do this if you have friends or family that want to create their own division and have prizes provided for your division!
Lanes continue to be challenging every year as we follow the kids event (bumpers
and all - this definitely makes the oil pattern a real challenge!) and we move
lanes every game so you bowl all 1 game on the low , medium and high end of
the house.
The top 3 in each event receive the Gold , Silver and Bronze medals respectively,
there is no prize money. Adults have the coveted Nikkei Games Bowling towels
in Gold, Silver and Bronze! The cost is only $15.00 per bowler per event , which
includes a free Nikkei Games "Games for the Generations" T-shirt, 3 games of
bowling (moving each game) a soda and snacks. Kids get an awesome goody bag
from the committee!
We ran optional scratch pots paying out 100% for both the men and the women
adult events and we have optional brackets too!
We also had an optional raffle that paid back 100% with 1st place prizes well
over $100 each squad.
The winner's pictures and scores from the tournament will be sent in to the Rafu Shimpo with all the other Nikkei Games events.

when it gets near May and June... Most likely we will continue to be the 3rd
saturday of August ...

* New for 2003 - Men's and Women's singles will now be divisioned
by AGE.Each Age division had anywhere from 7 - 10 bowlers. So, one division
by age didn't have too many participants i kept the number of participants in
each division to a reasonable number that is why some have gaps of 12 years
and others only 2 years.
